A Seal

Upon the

Heart

Eleven-year-old Leonardo and his eight-year-old sister, Leili, often wondered whether their family was normal. Their family was not like the ones they read about or saw in movies. Though seemingly unbreakable, it seemed to them as if it were always at risk of cracking. Then, they find out their father has been diagnosed with an illness that will certainly lead to his death.

To the siblings, their family was everything and they refused to accept their father’s ill-fated future. When they see a commercial about a life sciences company researching human longevity called Elixir—whose promise is a soon-to-be “cure to death”—they run away from home to New York City to meet the genius behind the mission. Refusing to be turned away, they sneak in and discover that the company is secretly searching for a Tree of Life. Meanwhile, something incredible is changing within them: they begin to feel the collective human consciousness. They are determined to use their strange new power of knowing to find the Tree of Life and bring life back to their father before it’s too late.
